Stop moving sprinklers and hand-watering flowers. An irrigation system waters more efficiently, loses less to evaporation, and keeps the soil next to your foundation from drying out. Your grass and plants get what they need to battle the harsh St. Louis summers, and you get your weekends back.

How a system works+

We tap into your water supply in the basement and run a copper line out to a backflow device. From there, water travels the property in PVC and poly pipe, divided into zones. Each zone has a low-voltage valve; when the controller activates it, water flows to that zone’s sprinkler heads.

  • Controller sets days, times, volume and duration for each zone.
  • Rain Sensor turns the system off while it is raining.
  • Backflow Device prevents water from seeping back into the public supply.
  • Valve opens when activated, sending water to an irrigation zone.
  • Sprinkler Head directs water where you want it, from 90 to 360 degrees.
  • Spray Head sprays instead of rotating, used primarily in gardens.
  • Drip Line ground watering for low-growing plants that prefer not to be sprayed.
  • Micro-Drip keeps flower and herb pots watered.
Annual maintenance program+

Our frost line runs deeper than irrigation lines, so systems must be drained every fall. St. Louis County also requires a certified technician to inspect your backflow device each year and file a passed inspection form. We handle both, on schedule, every year.

Landscape lighting brings your home to life after dark. Highlight peaks, trees, paths, and entryways with dramatic shadowing. Make pools, decks, and patios livable at night. Light the way for safe passage, and leave fewer dim corners for would-be intruders.

The key to introducing new plants is water: transplanting is a shock, and plants cope by drinking more, though too much can kill them too. We plant high-quality stock from the most reputable local growers, hand-picked whenever possible, and our crew brings more than 100 combined years of planting experience. With good watering practices, our plants thrive for years.

About

From a dozen lawns to a full landscape company.

Greg Bopp started mowing lawns for neighbors, family, and elderly folks in middle school. After high school he skipped college and started a company instead, roofing in the mornings, cutting grass into the evening, with just a dozen customers to his name.

The list grew. Greg left roofing behind to focus on the lawn business, and his wife Julie joined to manage the office and lead customer support. Established in June of 1988, Bopp Landscape Contracting now handles nearly every part of the landscape trade: mowing, fertilization, mulching, planting, irrigation, lighting, patios, retaining walls, drainage, and snow removal in the winter. About the only thing we don’t do is large tree removal.

38 years later, we’re still growing, in expertise and in customers. If you’re looking for the best, look no further.
